road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back
to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back
the soonest is the most progressive”. C.S. Lewis
Merry Christmas
(Happy Holidays) and Happy New Year to all in WoW and our
DoV family. As a new year approaches, you can’t help but
reflect on 2007 in real life and in the gaming world. In
real life, we hope that it was a great year for you and
if not, know that “storms” come and go, and your “storm”
will soon pass. In the gaming world and in Valhalla specifically
we too had our “moments” which required us to change, adapt
and overcome. We lost a few great people / players, whether
to real life issues or the overwhelming desire to play with
real life friends in a different guild, – nonetheless it
seems that all roads eventually end back to where your heart
lies, and many have planted it in DoV. The return of old
friends and the creation of new ones truly stands out in
2007, with people making up their minds to stake their claim
in Valhalla, swearing fealty to the clan and to the players
within. Many who have left DoV at one time re-evaluated
their reasons for “gaming” and came to the conclusion that
they rather game with people who they’ve come to enjoy and
draw close to and progress at a steady pace, verses flying
threw the content acquiring mass amount of “purple treasure”,
while gaming along side people who’s moral fiber is that
of only a thread, and caring for no one else except themselves.
DoV was created for fellowship first, gaming then follows
– We rather enjoy the ride with our guild family and celebrate
upon achievement, than cross the finish line first and have
no one to embrace in “true” celebration. Due to our doors
being closed, we’ve had to turn many applicants away, it
seems people are catching on to the way we run our guild
and are drawn to it. Others are envious and spiteful because
they don’t have the same kinship in their own guilds or
even in their own lives and curse our name. Either way we
remain true to our principals and to one another while advancing
towards now, Mag and SSC – and having fun while doing it!

– “Better a little which is well done, than a great
deal imperfectly" ~ Plato. DoV has massed a great
number of players, brimming with unique talents and gifts
that compliment our gaming endeavors in various ways. However,
with that said, our entry doors will shut as of 10/31/07
11:55pm server time. Being DPS heavy, an exception of a
few more healing priests and holy paladins have been made,
along with the specific return of a few friends, keeping
a "back door" open for the time being. Other than
that, our clan door will be shut tight.
DoV will be
focusing on the members within in every way possible, and
one of those ways is to get to know each other much better,
from gamin ideals to creating greater depths of friendships,
plus bolster our Kara teams so they may encounter ultimate
success. All of this and more while working in conjunction
towards gaming fun and end game content success. Managing
and preparing a large clan for the march towards the 25
man content and beyond is quite a task, thus the move to
close our recruitment doors was made.
Our last guild
merger/acquisition (Aphotic) brought us some really incredible
players and people which strengthen our guild in many ways
and challenged us by trying to manage and adhere to the
many new personalities, raiding time preferences, and overall
guild identity, which is never easy nor a quick adjustment.
So, the "tree is shaken" and who fell away did,
and who remained anchored themselves into DoV's foundation
and has become "one" with us. With much fervor
*lifts goblet and cheers* "Welcome to your
new guild home and gaming family - those from the merger
and those who recently just gained entry.....may your toon's
name echo in the Halls of Valhalla forevermore!"
Gruul's Lair
will eventually be on "farm status" and DoV is
eyeballing Mag/SSC for it's next conquest. We hope you dig
in and endure the ride, for most bail before the blessing
and often get caught up in the WoW gaming storm and guild
nightmares outside the confines of DoV where your brethren
and those who enjoy you the most remain, only to be washed
ashore before the gates of Valhalla once again - this time
to find it locked. To our friends in WoW, we wish you nothing
but the best in your gaming travels....to those within DoV..."Glory
and Honor!"
